We are currently looking for our new Compliance officer, Russia. In this role you will report to Chief Compliance Officer, EMEA. This is a managerial role without direct reports.
Role purpose: Be responsible for the AIG Russia Compliance Function & Support the work of EMEA Compliance. This position is responsible for supervising compliance of the business activities with all statutory and regulatory requirements. This is accomplished through regular monitoring of applicable legislation and regulations, effective communication and coordination with local management, the profit centers, as well as the regional management.
Your main tasks will be:
• Provide regular reporting on Compliance matters to the Board of Directors and other governance bodies and represent the company in industry professional bodies as required
• Act as the Money Laundering Reporting officer, ensuring the implementation of processes and controls in line with local AML/CT rules and regulations, as well as AIG Policies and Standards. Monitor and communicate local legal developments, perform local regulatory reporting, and advise on due diligence and screening requirements, as well as suspicious activity escalation procedures.
• Advise on financial crime matters, especially sanctions and related due diligence processes, working jointly with the Financial Crime Group for their timely resolution. Maintain transparent and timely updated screening procedures as required by applicable laws and regulations and AIG Policies and Standards.
• Act as Data Privacy Officer advising the business on data privacy and confidentiality risks, policies and processes, and handling data subject access requests, in accordance with local legislation and AIG Policies and Standards. Working in collaboration with the Global Data Privacy team, monitor and update processes and controls and co-ordinate the handling and reporting of data privacy incidents
• Advise on Records Management policies, especially retention periods, in accordance with local legislation and AIG requirements
• Provide advice on the Compliance Risks and related AIG Policies and Standards as they apply to business initiatives, new products, and projects
• Arrange and deliver tailored compliance training to the local operation, especially on AML/CF and data privacy and confidentiality
• Provide support to the Compliance Testing team during local testing exercises, support the business in the preparation and execution of a local monitoring plan where that is deemed necessary or required by local laws and regulations
• Conduct the annual Compliance Risk Assessment Review and escalate compliance issues and potential violations of compliance policies and procedures, laws, regulations and standards of good business to Group Compliance as appropriate
• periodic reporting to executive management and Group Compliance,
• execution of Global Compliance projects in collaboration with Compliance Operations
• maintenance of applicable AIG policies and procedures designed to prevent, detect and correct specific compliance risks
• liaising with Risk or / and Internal Audit for the implementation of identified actions required in the context of amelioration of internal controls
We are looking for someone who has:
• Several years’ experience in a Compliance, Internal Audit Legal or Regulatory position
• Bachelor’s Degree required, Legal, Finance or Economics preferred
• Relevant experience and understanding of the financial services sector, preferably the property-casualty insurance industry and related regulatory requirements
• Deep knowledge of data privacy, AML & CFT rules and regulations.
• Demonstrated ability to influence and work effectively and cross-functionally within a highly-matrix organization with (senior) managers and employees at all levels
• Ability to understand business operations and provide practical solutions combining local and Group requirements
• Ability to meet or exceed deadlines, prioritize, multi-task, and maintain flexibility in fast-paced, changing environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to address conflict and difficult issues in a professional, assertive and proactive manner
• Proven experience to work under pressure
• Excellent organizational, written, verbal and presentation skills including the ability to interpret and communicate compliance guidance internally
• Fluency in English and Russian essential. Knowledge of another European language desirable.
