Robotics Mechanical Engineer (not remote)
Aramco Innovations is a Russian representative office of the research center that is the part of Saudi Aramco, the state-owned national oil company of Saudi Arabia.
Aramco Research Center in Moscow supports development in the areas of upstream technologies in simulation and modeling, advanced materials, data analytics and artificial intelligence.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join the team. The candidate should be responsible for developing, manufacturing, testing, and maintaining mechanics for robotics systems, with a focus on creating and testing new ideas. This position implies regular communications within peers from the whole center and other research centers, as well as with product owners in the head office in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It will be possible to take part in the conferences and publish journal papers.
Key functions and responsibilities:
- Development of unmanned ground and aerial vehicles, mechatronic modules, and complex housing products.
- Prototyping and testing of technical solutions.
- Selection of main and auxiliary equipment for developed projects.
- Performing strength and kinematic calculations.
- Optimization of the design in terms of material consumption, strength and other required parameters.
- Interaction with contract manufacturing for part production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, electrical engineers, and project managers.
- Develop and maintain software documentation, including user manuals.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in robotics and automation, and integrate relevant findings into our work.
Technical skills and competencies:
- Higher technical education.
- 2 years of work experience (preferred).
- Experience in design, manufacture and assembly of moving mechanisms, robots.
- Knowledge of fundamentals of machine design, machine parts, theory of machine mechanisms, metrology.
- Experience in calculation of strength properties and loads of mechanical systems and components.
- Knowledge of CAD systems is essential (KOMPAS-3D, Fusion 360, Solidworks).
- Determination of reliability indicators under given conditions in relation to the test object and its components.
- Experience in 3D-printing for prototyping.
- Knowledge of kinematic and dynamic calculation.
- Selection of components and ordering outsource manufacturing.
- Ability to write well-structured documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
- Good communication skills in English (writing and speaking) are important. Please use a profile in English for applying for this role.
Will be an advantage:
- Robotics background will be a plus.
- Experience in product design (ergonomics, ease of assembly /disassembly /maintenance).
- Basic knowledge in the development of wheeled and tracked platforms.
- Basic knowledge in one or more of the following areas: CAE systems, vibration damping, robot simulation (e.g., Unity, Blender, Gazebo, AirSim).
- Basic knowledge in using single board microcomputers and controllers (Raspberry Pi, Arduino, ESP32, etc.).
