To provide expert and strategic legal advice to the management. Setting internal governance policies and managing the impact of external factors. Evaluating and weighing multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action. Ability to ensure legal compliance and limit risk exposure.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
• Provide expert and strategic legal advice to management; Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes
• Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors
• Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action
• Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically; Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks
• Create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders
• Deal with external parties (regulators, external counsel, politicians, clients)
• Attract, develop, direct, motivate, and drive performance from the team
• Navigate complex legal, business, and cultural environments with flexibility and resilience
• Provide timely expert, strategic legal advice to the CEO and sponsors
• Assess company decisions to expand legal rights and mitigate risk that cut across legal and related areas
• Represent project company in legal matters and complex matters related to the law, such as public relations and ongoing regulatory compliance
• Manage project company’s intellectual properties and statutory filings
• Advocate on the project company’s behalf in court proceedings
• Making sure compliance issues are promptly reported to him/her; and that the person assigned with compliance responsibilities within the company is well trained to answer/forward questions and monitor compliance.
• Providing appropriate measures to prevent violations of laws or regulations that could lead to sanctions - especially under anti-trust, anti-money laundering, and anti-corruption laws.
Skills and Qualifications:
• BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree. MA or BSc in Business Administration will be considered an asset'
• Experience as a general counsel in a business environment or a comparable legal role.
• Experience in O&G - Energy Sector - Big infrastructure projects.
• Fluent in Russian and English (Uzbek is a plus).
• Experience in Central Asia is a plus.
