Position Summary
Under limited supervisory guidance provides technical support for existing process applications covering both materials and equipment and performs parameter development for existing equipment and materials in the Metco portfolio.
Professional Competence and Responsibility
- Planning, coordination, and execution of trials, diagnostics, materials, coating evaluations with other project managers, internal resources, customers and/or external laboratories and institutes
- Preparation of SOW’s and quotations
- Create coating specifications
- Analyses lab results and compiles reports and charts for test results and analysis and makes recommendations for further development activities
- Internal and external customer support and advice in relation to the entire process of thermal spraying
- Performs extended on-site know-how transfer, system acceptance, and customer support projects
- Supporting the preparation of papers and publications for conferences and other events
- Technical support for the Coating Solutions Center (CSC) team
- Prepares and conducts standard customer demonstrations and training in support of Sales, Systems, Equipment and Materials
- Conducts material and equipment parameter development projects for both internal and external customers
- Validation of new materials and equipment and processes under the direction of others
- Provide and coordinate technical support for customer problems (coordination could also involve groups outside of the CSC such as Field Service)
- Works in conjunction with other team members to maintain labs and equipment in proper operating condition including equipment preparation, scheduling maintenance, calibration, servicing, and upgrades.
- Keeps work areas neat and in accordance with regulations
Technical Competence and Role
- Support other project managers and Head of CSC in project planning
- Maximizing quality regarding project execution and technical documentation
- Supporting the maintenance of QM documents for the team
- Compliance with quality management standards and technical specifications
- In-depth knowledge of equipment and principles of the processes
Requirements
- Technical University degree in mechanical engineering/materials / electrical engineering or technician/mechanic with additional training thermal spraying
- Experience in dealing with coating processes (preferably thermal spray and welding/cladding)
- Experience in reading and interpreting technical drawings and documents
- Language skills (working knowledge, fluent/conversational)
