JOB’S MISSION
RemedyLogic is looking for an exceptionally talented and motivated person to take the Director of Spine Research role and provide medical expertise and research guidance in spinal abnormalities to support artificial intelligence (AI) researchers in the development of novel AI models for efficient, reliable, accurate, and automated diagnosis and treatment decisions.
The Director of Medical Research will employ disciplined scientific methodologies, research expertise, and managerial experience to initiate projects and follow up processes, facilitate communication between medical advisors and AI researchers, work effectively under pressure, and use independent judgment to produce scientifically significant and commercially viable research outcomes.
This is an ambitious undertaking replete with clinical and technological challenges to shift a paradigm in healthcare decision-making globally.
OUTCOMES (in order of priority):
I. Develop novel clinical expert-based models in collaboration with AI
researchers and medical advisors
A. Provide medical expertise to help AI experts identify clinically important
features and develop scientific machine-learning models
B. Translate and codify medical necessity checklists as simple models (logical
rules) or more complex models (Bayesian networks) in collaboration with AI experts
C. Coordinate communication between panel of medical advisors (spinal surgeons,
radiologists) and AI research team
D. Coordinate the validation of clinical AI models with spinal surgeons
II. Develop medical data collection processes related to spinal abnormalities,
clinical symptoms, treatments, and outcomes
A. Review peer-reviewed medical literature and medical necessity check lists to
build questionnaires for patients and doctors related to the spine
B. Validate questionnaire prototypes with other physicians
C. Continuously update, correct, and improve the questionnaires
D. Identify the best predictors (questions) related to diagnoses, treatments, and
outcomes
E. Participate in the process of data curation
F. Participate in the database portal design and testing in collaboration with the
data acquisition team, including monitoring metrics
G. Oversee and analyze experimental results and design studies for meta-analysis
with the help of data scientists and researchers
III. Achieve scientific and medical credibility in the marketplace
A. In collaboration with AI experts, co-author peer-reviewed articles on clinical AI
models
B. Present research results at laboratory meetings and scientific conferences
C. Participate in outreach to the research community; initiate, and foster
communication with national and international partners
IV. Achieve scientific and medical credibility in the marketplace
A. Provide ongoing guidance in research prioritization from the perspective of
symptom prevalence, medical feasibility, and value-add
COMPETENCES:
Requirements:
• MD, PhD or MD-PhD in spinal abnormality or trauma research
• First author of articles in peer-reviewed medical journals
• Knowledge and expertise in experimental and clinical neurotrauma research and related workflows
Competences:

o Efficiency - find pragmatic solutions, develop robust, efficient but simple
approaches
o Autonomy to conduct scientific research and write articles
o Honesty/integrity
o Communication skills to interact with technical team members, business and
product development teams, and medical experts
o Analytical skills - critical thinking and reasoning skills; ability to synthesize,
summarize and draw conclusions from disperse and seemingly unrelated data
points; ability to ask the right questions and retrieve information from various
sources (health plan medical directors, doctors, employer HR people, IT teams)
o Attention to detail
o Proactivity
• Optional technical skills:
o Knowledge of data science, machine learning, and statistical methodologies
o Knowledge of programming in Python and/or R
