Reuters is looking for a dynamic and experienced Producer Multimedia to join our team in Russia, one of Europe’s and Eurasia’s most vibrant regions. You will help deliver breaking and planned news coverage to more than 1,000 broadcasters and hundreds of digital outlets around the world. You will have a strong ability to remain focused and organised under pressure and a passion for working with high-performance teams.

You will have outstanding news judgement and will be confident handling breaking news from Russia or Ukraine, as well as pitching stories that go beyond the headlines. You will work with wider team to help explain to a global audience the political, socio-economic, environmental, and cultural changes in the region, from Azerbaijan to Kazakhstan. Fluent English and Russian language skills are a must for this position.

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of our production team coordinating and bringing in edited and live coverage from across Russia and the CIS region to deliver to clients at speed.
• Produce tight, well-written accurate news copy to deadline.
• Pitch story ideas which travel well for broadcast and digital platforms.
• Work as part of a multimedia team that covers events, starting from the planning phase through to field work. Coordinate between Visuals and Text teams.
• React fast to breaking news, monitor for and proactively source user-generated content and other 3rd party material, especially for breaking news
• Coordinate with the multiple content providers in the region who will provide video for breaking news and features.
• Help create and maintain planning entries.
• Quickly and efficiently process stories that come to the desk, upholding Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias.
• Travel to breaking news stories, often at short notice when needed.

Requirements:

• University degree or equivalent career experience in journalism or related discipline
• 5 years experience in either a broadcast, agency or digital newsroom.
• Excellent Russian and English - written and oral (C1/C2 level).
• Excellent news judgment, with a clear vision of what makes a compelling visual story.
• Strong video editing and script writing skills.
• A clear understanding of the news video needs of major broadcasters and digital clients.
• A thorough understanding of the latest digital video technologies for editing, transmitting and sharing video

• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships quickly
• Strong planning and organisational skills, ability to drive skills and accuracy.
• A willingness to travel domestically and internationally at short notice, including to hostile environments.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure.
