Role description
We are expanding our IT team and looking for a Technical writer / 1st support line Engineer who can support our efforts in platform development. This position is remote full-time and includes interconnected activities: creating and updating existing documentation and How-Tos, onboarding of new employees and their 1st line support.

Our international network of over 4,000 production partners enables us to offer a wide range of production technologies: CNC, sheet metal processing, 3D printing, Injection Molding and more. We deliver the final parts after a quality assurance process and our customers can always track their orders status online. Xometry’s customers are the majority of leading industrial companies including BMW, Bosch, Dell Technologies, General Electric, NASA and many many more.
The platform
The platform (ERP system for internal business processes + Customer front + Suppliers front) is developed in-house and based on Ruby on Rails stack, React/Typescript on frontend plus some Python modules and integrations with 3rd party solutions via APIs. Currently, the technology team is 17 people in size. We are building the uber-like platform for manufacturing, deploying updates almost every working day, so there is a lot of interesting work to be done.
Responsibilities

Ownership of our knowledge base in Confluence, ongoing documentation creation & update. Gather information, write it in easy-reading style and illustrate with screenshots/screencasts & schemas. Business processes on the platform are rather complicated, so the company needs an updated source of truth about the way software & teams operate and process data

Support our employees, especially newcomers as 1st line support. Help people with unclear behaviour of the system (if any), look for bugs, educate the team on new features

Provide initial onboarding for new employees - general information about the systems we use, most frequently used scenarios for key roles in the organization

Prepare educational videos / interactive materials based on onboarding webinars to use them as self-service
Successful candidate
- Experience with English documentation creation and maintenance
- Organizational and coordination skills, ability to structure information and make it consumable
- Experience with support of SaaS / Software products in international teams experience is an advantage
- Strong soft skills, communication and teamwork orientation
- Strong English language skills, ability to explain things, to participate in video calls, to write documentation in English is a must. The German language is an advantage.
- Good understanding of web technology stack, any programming or SQL experience is an advantage
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; quick learning ability
