Responsibilities:
- Conduct bi-annual Resource model updates for Nordgold’s Russian operations;
- Close liaison with Mine Planning departments to ensure optimal model handover process for optimization and scheduling- ensure proper communication and seamless data flow between Resource Geology and Mine Planning departments;
- Peer review In-house Resource Models for West African operations;
- Update and maintain Resource modeling procedures and QA/QC systems as per industry best practice protocols;
- Manage Grade Control drilling and modeling process in conjunction with site based Geology Managers – including database input, QA/QC and drill program design;
- Manage database administration staff – ultimate responsibility for database validation and QA/QC;
- Train and develop staff in Leapfrog, Datamine and Ore Controller to ensure continuous coverage during leave rotations;
- Provide support in resource reporting and mine to mill reconciliation reporting;
- Provide support in Resource development drilling (Near Mine Exploration and Resource infill drilling.
Requirements:
- BSc (Bachelors) in Geology – Honors and/or MSc a plus;
- Post Graduate certification/qualification in Geostatistics advantages;
- From 10 of Geological modeling and Resource estimation experience, with a strong background in Orogenic Gold deposits and similar mineralization systems in an Open Pit and UG environment;
- Good geological modeling skills and proven field experience in pit mapping and structural interpretation;
- Thorough understanding of Russian Mining Law/Licensing/Safety regulations to receive feedback from site Chief Geologists;
- Advanced knowledge of 3D modeling and Resource estimation software, e.g. Leapfrog, Datamine and Surpac (Geovia);
- Experience in Grade Control modeling programs such as Datamine Ore Controller, as well as advanced knowledge in Grade Control design, modeling and quality control systems;
- Good understanding of Geostatistical data analysis and software, e.g. Snowden Supervisor or any geostatistical module inside Datamine or Surpac;
- Advance experience in database management and database QA/QC systems, e.g. DataShed, QAQCR and MS Access;
- Russian and English language proficiency;
- Goals-oriented and self-motivated;
- Strong leadership qualities and the ability to develop and implement standard technical protocols for Nordgold’s Resource Geology Department;
- Team player who is willing and able to train his subordinates.
