Job Overview
ClearScale is looking for a hands-on Solution Architect (SA) to participate in various custom solution and product development projects.
Most of the projects led by ClearScale are AWS-centric. You will become a part of the distributed engineering team, responsible for preparing infrastructure, design solution architecture, leverage a full cycle of solution engineering, workload optimization, and operational support.
Responsibilities

Lead sessions with business and technical experts to deeply understand their needs, solicit and document requirements

Consult and advise engineers, architects and executives, help define the right choice of technology stack for the solution of business problems
-
Create SOWs and/or provide a structured and complete informational background to the engineering team
-
Design and articulate major aspects of highly-scalable, reliable, and performant technical software solutions that leverage AWS cloud platform to automate business solutions
-
Handle potential trade-offs occurring during the implementation phase, make decisions and suggest the right course of action, establish patterns
-
Handle the strategic vision, align roadmaps and requirements. Build and maintain technical trusted advisor relationships with all levels in an organization, from technical experts to senior executives

Accelerate innovation by detecting high-impact, repeatable solutions for enterprises, iteratively deploying them and representing ClearScale capabilities in AWS Cloud Solutions to customers and the community

Authorship of technical publications including blog entries, case studies and ebooks
- Collaborate with in-house and external teams of software engineers, QA, solution architects and project managers
Qualifications
ClearScale expects successful candidate to have most of the following qualifications and skills:
-
Bachelor's degree in an engineering/scientific field or 5+ years of designing and developing services or applications within an organization
-
3+ years consulting experience and track record of helping customers with their needs or comparable experience working with internal customers in a product company
-
Understanding fundamentals of different project management methodologies and frameworks (covering Agile, Lean Development, classical waterfall) applicable for custom software engineering
-
5+ years experience building enterprise software solutions
-
3+ years hands-on experience working with AWS cloud platform
-
Expertise in core AWS services (i.e. network, compute, storage, database, security, management and governance)
-
Experience designing and implementing modern cloud-based applications using event-driven and NoSQL technologies (e.g. Lambda, Kafka, Kinesis, DynamoDB, S3, ActiveMQ, SQS, EventBridge, Redis/Memcached)
-
Experience with containerised environments and/or serverless applications, understanding of architecture patterns, area of applicability, restrictions and typical problems
-
Experience building fault-tolerant and no-downtime distributed cloud systems
-
Experience using and adapting to new technologies
-
Comfort with assuming high-profile leadership roles in demanding, highly-visible customer situations
-
Strong listening, written and oral communications skills
- Fluent English (there will be plenty of customer-facing calls and chats)
- Ability to work off the regular hours to ensure overlap with US-based customers and teammates
- Has proven experience in long-term projects with US or EU customers
Additional things to be considered as a plus:

AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification or ability to acquire it in 3 months

Experience with enterprise workloads migration to AWS platform

Experience working with secured data (e.g. PHI, classified data)

Deep understanding of column, key-value, document or graph databases

Experience giving public technical presentations
