The Exploration (EXP) business area represents an exciting centre of expertise and career development. Equinor is a leading global exploration company, focusing on early access at scale, drilling high impact wells and exploiting core positions, supported by a strong technology strategy.
The EXP Onshore East (ION EA) unit is working to build a strong onshore portfolio of exploration projects in Russia through smart collaboration and strategic partnerships.
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior or Principal Geophysicist to join the Exploration Onshore team to deliver high quality technical regional, sub regional and detailed G&G data interpretation to develop new ideas and mature to new access opportunities. The position will collaborate closely with the corresponding asset team and other business clusters to ensure an aligned approach to new business opportunities.
The position will be based in Moscow and will involve periodic Domestic and International travel as required. The position will report to the ION EA Regional & Access Exploration manager.
The candidate should be experienced in the interpretation of data from various sources (seismic, wells, reports, studies, outcrops, etc) to develop and increase the subsurface understanding and quantify the risk elements of exploration projects. The candidate should be competent in the following:
• Deep understanding of seismic data, its link with rock physics, well data, acquisition methods.
• Regional scale and detailed 2D and 3D Seismic structural interpretation, velocity modelling & depth conversion, well-tie analysis, seismic attribute analysis, including AVO and Post Stack/PreStack seismic inversion.
• Mapping of prospects, prospect maturation with clear focus on uncertainty and risk assessment.
• Well data analysis sedimentological understanding of both carbonate and clastic reservoirs systems.
• Data management and ability to work with datasets with of various qualities
• Experienced user of Petrel
Advantage, if the candidate is ready to take lead role in technical short-term and middle-term tasks, supporting efficient team work and collaborating across disciplines.
Qualifications
Minimum MSc in either physics, mathematics or geoscience subject
Minimum 8 years’ work experience
International work experience with IOC’s will be an advantage
Russian and English language (minimum Upper Intermediate)
