Position Description and Responsibilities

Silvaco is one of a few providers of highly sophisticated software for electrical circuit simulation. With growing world-wide presence, we are expanding our operations and have an opening for a full-time position in our office in Moscow, Russia.

An Application Engineer accepted for this position will work with existing distributed AE / R&D teams throughout the company, being responsible for coordinating the technical development and deployment of the company’s circuit simulator platforms; handle the toughest circuit simulation challenges, working closely with our world-class field applications and engineering teams to enhance the accuracy, performance, capacity and functionality for all types of circuit analysis.

Application Engineer (Circuit Simulation) responsibilities include:

• Customer Support
  • Meet with customers and present technical updates and product status
  • Review, verify, and prioritize customer reported issues (bugs)
  • Provide assessment of feasibility of improvement requests
  • Provide primary product debugging for developers and delineate potential root cause of debugged issues

• Development Support
  • Work closely with R&D
  • Prioritize critical customer issues and requirements for R&D
  • Develop requirement specifications for major development
  • Provide use model inputs to R&D for all development
  • Test early implementations of new features
  • Lead beta testing activities with field and customers
  • Maintain and/or write documentation on implemented features, algorithms, application and release notes, communicate necessary User Manual changes with Silvaco’s Tech Writer
  • Support product quality with new testcases covering new and existing functionality
  • Manual testing to ensuring released products are of high quality and completeness
  • Track and profile performance, capacity and reliability of SmartSpice components

• Product Support
  • Write “white papers” for SILVACO intranet: describe new functionality, notify marketing about performance improvements
  • Provide new examples for SmartSpice package, which will be delivered to all customers
  • Provide/create training materials for field support
  • Provide presentation materials for Sales and Marketing
  • Interact with Sales and Marketing on the regular basis
    • Identify and update product collateral
    • Help qualify engagements
    • Understand needs and develop response plans
    • Help develop product roadmap
  • Represent Silvaco at conferences with demos and technical papers
  • Provide timely, accurate technical product reports
  • Coordinate with and update the field on a regular basis

REQUIRED Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience simulating analog/RF designs such as drivers, switchers, PMICs, sensors, transceivers, etc.
• Must be able to work with world-class, Ph.D. caliber development team
• Thorough understanding of the internal workings of a circuit simulator
• Self-motivated individual with excellent problem-solving skills
• Experienced using SPICE netlists and control languages including HSPICE, Spectre and Eldo
• Familiar with EDA design environments and able to script in standard languages
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• BSEE or equivalent, MSEE or equivalent preferred
• Fluent in English
• Experience as a Windows and as a Linux user

DESIRABLE Qualifications

• Experience designing and characterizing PLLs, ADC/DAC, high-speed I/Os, etc.
• Experience with different flavors of SPICE simulation (standard SPICE, Fast Analog SPICE, Fast SPICE, RF)
• Experience with industry-standard models
