Objectives:
Agenda Setting
- Influence the global innovation brief to be optimal for timing, cost, region relevance, and quality targets.
- Deliver AOP (annual operation plan) and SBP (strategic business plan) innovation agendas for the Joint ventures platforms based on consumer insight and feasibility assessment covering supply chain, ingredients, and design standards.
Product Design & Technical Expertise Ownership
- Lead development of advantaged new Energy products and packaging in collaboration with R&D teams.
- Lead the scale-up and launch in ESSA make markets, product innovation or improvement.
- Ensure projects are designed for deployment in the Region, forward-compatible for expansion and comply to test protocols.
- Lead the Technical Stage Gate assessment for each project from feasibility to commercialization scale-up. Integrating cross-functional deliverables on a monthly cadence and provide an appropriate risk assessment and resolution plan where necessary.
- Partner to prepare, update, issue and deliver specification documents for final products and, where needed, ingredients, materials, process instructions, compliance certifications to proven product design, company and legal requirements.
- Partner with broader R&D and commercial functions to ensure technical and processing (equipment and process) specifications are compliant including HACCP transfer documents.
- Develop project management insight that creates the foundation for innovative solutions in support of business objectives.
Technical Brand Stewardship, Quality, and Productivity
- Support the assessment of initiatives to improve product quality, reduce manufacturing cost, improve compliance or capability or deliver other functional benefits. Implement or govern initiatives where agreed.
Internal communication and interfaces
- It is critical for the incumbent to create and establish effective working relationships across the R&D network and non-R&D functions as well as commercial partners as necessary to support business growth initiatives.
Job requirements:
Required:
- Higher degree in Foods / Engineering / Science or related discipline with at least 2+ year’s experience product development in a consumer products company (beverage experience is a benefit).
- English is a must (upper-intermediate).
- Solid project management skills with emphasis on negotiation, the anticipation of obstacles and solutions.
- Good interpersonal skills, building effective partnerships and resilience to work in a matrix structure.
- Familiarity with Region markets, consumers, trade partners, insights and business models.
- Capable of carrying forward own work agenda with low levels of supervision and drive to see results.
Desired:
- Track record in product development and interest in formulation and process.
- Track record in getting the best from collaborative work relationships with business partners (Marketing, Supply Chain, Insights, Finance, etc.) and R&D partners based in multiple locations and time zones.
- Credibility to influence agendas and concise communication and presentation skills (written & verbal).
- Basic finance analysis, business case development and execution, contracting.
- Experience in translating consumer trends into differentiated products.
- Self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced environment and work effectively in a matrix and evolving agenda with a degree of uncertainty.
- Passion for creativity, innovation, and delivery within a commercially driven environment.
- Striving for high standards, seeking innovative solutions, driving continuous improvement of products, processes or methods and demonstrating a high degree of intellectual curiosity.
Other:
- Due to the nature of project management and commercialization of innovation, the position will sometimes require flexibility in working hours eg. set-up and complete focus groups, product expos, pilot plant scale-ups or plant trials that may extend past typical working hours. In addition, a key line of collaboration exists with the Europe R&D team.
- Travel will be required in Region (estimated 10% - 20%) and, occasionally, trans-Atlantic for extended periods (usually 1 week).
